I did. In a DoorDash bag from my dasher to keep it safe. 😂
Accurate! I got on my flight and the flight attendant deliberately came to me, took my king cake, said we take these seriously - and put it in its own overhead and closed it like it was full! 🤣
A muffletta also works!
They let me bring on a large, metal horseshoe (mule shoe? 🤣) off of one of the lovely Royal Carriage mules. His name is Shine (the mule, not my friend). Yes, I know the driver. It was a souvenir. Shine is now retired. I also had 6 French Market candles in my backpack. They take a prolonged peek at all these things, and let me pass, on all counts!
You can bring a dozen donuts too. Ask me how I know! Angela Thompson Breaux we JUST talked about a king cake carry on. 😂😂
Done it many times and bonus, they sell them at the airport! Les Bon Temp Roule!
Last year I fit 2 in my carryon!
Yes you can. Done it several times!
I brought a Leas Lunchroom pie as carry on! I would expect the same for a king cake!
You can fit 6 from Randazzo’s (Chalmette) in a large checked bag. 😉
I’ve done it multiple times, I even do it with a soft cooler bag and frozen boudin when I come home to visit.
Shelby Irwin I’ll use this as my carry on option for your baby shower 😂
Oh yes, one time I brought 2 king cakes on my lap! And that was in addition to my carryon 🥰
Actually probably 3 ask me how I know
Or 5 to the Caribbean
I brought 3 last year. we had a designated king cake carry-on bag. 😆
Makes me want to fly in just to get king cake! How many can we fly with??
Whitney Lirette Viteaux didn’t you just ask about this? Lol
I was in the airport on Ash Wednesday before and trust me. The public is aware you can carryon a king cake
April that time I brought one to NYC 🤭
I've done it before and everybody who sees it wants some lol
I do it all the time put a king cake in my carry on
Funny of you to assume it would even make it to the plane 😂😂
You can also bring a whole muffaletta. I do it every time I fly home from there.
Does puttin a plastic knife in box count? Lolz probably not!

What a year it’s been at MSY! Let us unpack it for you. 🧳
From historic snowfall to record-breaking passenger numbers after Super Bowl LIX, 2026 brought unforgettable moments to our Airport.
We launched our new brand, connected passengers to 5 new destinations and welcomed AMAC to New Orleans. Music @ MSY brought live performances to our terminals, while the relaunched Indulge MSY Guest Pass gave visitors new ways to enjoy the airport experience. We honored our heroes with our final Soaring Valor flight, broke ground on the Express Shuttle Connector Road and heard from the public at our Master Plan meetings.
As we look ahead to an exciting 2026, we’re taking a moment to look back. What was your favorite airport moment from 2025? ... See MoreSee Less
